Successful Presentation of the First Research Results of the Bessarion Research Center in Frankfurt

In an excellent atmosphere and with the participation of about 80 guests, the event for the presentation of the first results of the research project of the Bessarion Center at the University of Jena took place in the D. Emmanouilidis Hall of the Elliniko Spiti Foundation in Frankfurt.

In September 2023, on the initiative of the Chair of South Slavic Studies and the Associations of Pontian Greeks in Europe, the Bessarion Research Center was established at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena to promote modern Greek studies in research and teaching. The inauguration took place on November 8, 2023.

The Elliniko Spiti Foundation together with the AHEPA Frankfurt Chapter, the Association of Furriers and Fur Traders of Germany, and the Greek Community of Frankfurt/Hesse are the main funders of the Bessarion Research Center.

All attendees watched the captivating presentations of the scientific staff, specifically Prof. Thodoris Kal, Dr. Sotiris Rousiaki, Dr. des. Andreea Pascaru, and Eleni Polykarpou. The recordings of the lectures are accessible to everyone.

The musical accompaniment for the evening was provided by Giannis Karis, while the reception that followed was organized by the team of Nibelungenschänke under the guidance of Dimitra Petsa.

I would like to thank all the supporters of this center. We can be proud of its development.
